Nature Trivia & Tips

Cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpoises) display seemingly playful behavior including Breaching, Spyhopping, or Tail Slapping. They are mammals like us! who live in water, in family groups called "pods." Different species have characteristic spouts - Blue Whales have the highest spout which can rise up to 30ft!

Active-Days: Helping you find ...   H ealth

Active-Days provides a faster, easier and nicer way to find interesting events, parks, groups / fellow participants, and related resources / info. - in an easy-to-use, pleasant environment.

Discover and enjoy your Peak Experience!

Active Days Events Parks Community

►►► Active-Days highlights this hidden treasure (of nature / outdoors events & local parks / wilderness) to a much greater number and variety of interested participants - first-timers and regulars, the young and the young-at-heart!

And also helps us find activity buddies with whom we can enjoy these events - and admire / cherish our awe-inspiring (OK ... awesome) natural treasures.

It's easy to connect and coordinate with other participants via RSVPs & Direct Messages. Finding activity buddies makes it a lot more fun, interesting, and convenient (e.g. carpools)!

You can inspire, inform (and impress!) others by posting comments, photos, trip reports / blogs. You'll help build awareness & appreciation of the great outdoors - and greater participation at these events. (i.e. more chances to meet like minded people!)

So jump right in and share your thoughts, photos, questions, tips & ideas with others.   Kudos for finding this site and being an "early adopter" - you can shape, build and enjoy something new and useful - that many others will appreciate and enjoy eventually!   What goes around, does come around!

Active-Days - a common / integrated platform to bring together a variety of nature / outdoors events, the parks and organizations behind them, other informative sites, and above all, interested & enthusiastic participants!

It aims to be a truly  user-friendly,  feature-rich portal that focuses on end-user / participant needs - along with a growing set of event planning, calendaring & related services for organizations / groups.

Invigorate  your body, mind & spirit -

and enjoy  Active Days ...  that are

Interesting, Active & Interactive!

We'd love to hear from you. Your  feedback & comments keep us motivated on this interesting endeavor!

Psst... Do  spread the word about this site.  Thanks  ;-)

Participating in nature / outdoors events at our beautiful parks & trails is a refreshing way to spend a few hours or the better part of a day - invigorating our body, mind & spirit!  But, it isn't easy to find these events, parks or others with similar interests to enjoy them with!   That's what led to the creation of this unique community resource / portal for outdoors & nature.

Did you know - there are many interesting group events conducted by our county Park Districts and a variety of other groups / organizations?

Group activities led by experienced & enthusiastic event leaders / docents / rangers - from easy walks to challenging hikes - where we can explore and enjoy our scenic parks, open space & wilderness / wildlife preserves.

However, these events and great places have unintentionally remained a best kept secret!

Why? Because it has been a challenge to find and search through several websites, scanning long lists (sometimes pdf files) of events - trying to simply find a park or an event that matched our availability and preferences! (e.g. a moderate hike of less than 5 miles next Saturday, or a park in the South Bay with waterfalls & wildflowers.)

It was especially hard for most of us with limited time to find and enjoy these fun, interesting events. We certainly needed a more convenient solution!
Enter Active-Days!     ►►►

Given the high quality of the events and the hours of  fun, fitness & friendship they provide, it is surprising that most events are free (though a few require pre-registration and modest fees.)  Thus, with just a moderate amount of fitness and a bit of curiosity / sense of adventure, we can start enjoying our local & regional parks, open space preserves and wilderness areas.

These outdoors group events are one of the greatest ways to get refreshed, de-stressed, and energized (while burning calories!)

And it's more fun discovering / enjoying / appreciating the diverse flora & fauna in the company of old & new friends. From colorful seasonal wildflowers to towering old Redwoods - from the diminutive Newts to a herd of 700-1000 pound Tule Elk - from the common but interesting Mallard ducks to migratory and other rarer birdlife! Not to forget the great vistas & settings that reflect the changing beauty of the seasons - and the varying glow & colors of our nearest star and our celestial companion!
