One of the largest birds in North America with a wingspan over 8 feet! You may see them fish cooperatively, moving in a circle to concentrate fish, and then dipping their heads under simultaneously to catch fish. It winters along the coasts, but breeds only inland.
Wash infected skin asap with soap & cold water. Minimizes severity of the rash & prevents spread of the oily sap from the roots, stems, leaves & fruit of these plants. Don't wash with solvents such as alcohol since they tend to spread the sap further!

Summary The East Bay's original inhabitants were the ancestors of the Ohlone Indians, hunters and gatherers whose skills enabled them to live well off the land's natural bounty. In those days, tule elk roamed the land, condors soared overhead, and sea otters and fish were abundant in the Bay. At Coyote Hills Regional Park on Fremont's Bay shoreline, some of this rich wetland is preserved, along with Ohlone Indian shellmound sites with fascinating archaeological resources.
